Skull & Bones has lost its third creative director

While it looked like Skull & Bones was finally going to release a year ago, Ubisoft eventually chose to delay the game once again. Now according to a new report, the game's current creative director, who rebooted the project years ago, has left Ubisoft. 

According to sources speaking with Kotaku, Skull & Bones has now lost its third creative director. Currently, Ubisoft still has the game pencilled in to release before the end of the current fiscal year, which ends in March 2024. However, as we've seen with this title many times in the past, just because it is listed on the schedule does not mean we will actually see it release.

Elisabeth Pellen became the creative director of Skull & Bones five years ago, rebooting the project. An Ubisoft spokesperson commented on Kotaku's story, stating that Pellen has indeed left Ubisoft Singapore, but added that the remaining team is now “fulfilling her vision”.

Ubisoft is now evaluating feedback from the recent closed beta test for Skull & Bones in order to make any remaining changes before launch.

KitGuru Says: While this could be a sign of more trouble for Skull & Bones, it could also be the exact opposite. Skull & Bones may have its final content in place already and could now be entering the final phase of development. If there aren't any further tweaks to make to systems, mechanics or content, then it makes sense for a creative director to move on to their next project.
