Corsair updates adds Dolby support to Vengeance headset

Owners of the Vengeance 2000 gaming headset rejoice, with a simple software update you can now get access to Dolby features, such as Dolby Headphone 2.0 and Dolby Pro Logic Ilx. Surround sound quality and game compatibility have also been improved.

You'll need something like the Vengeance's 7.1 setup to appreciate Dolby Headphone of course, since it is designed to deliver up to 7.1 surround sound in a headphone environment, catering to the much closer placement of the drivers responsible for the 3D sound.

Thanks to the inclusion of Dolby Ilx too, you'll be able to take stereo and 5.1 streams and auditorily mix it up to the equivalent of 7.1. The idea is to give gamers better spacial awareness and for movies to sound much more real.

KitGuru Says: Any of you guys got one of these headsets? I'd be interested to ‘hear' how the audio upmixing works. Do the extra channels sound real? Does it do a good job of splitting up the stereo sound? If it does, I might need to request a “review sample,” of one of these Vengeance headsets…
