Archos release new Quad Core Platinum tablets

Archos may not be on many people's radar when it comes to making a shortlist for a new tablet however they are releasing a new series of systems targeting the budget market.

The new Platinum tablets follow their Titanium range. The difference? New Quad core processors and more RAM installed.

Archos seem to be borrowing Apple design cues. The Archos 97 is a 9.7 inch tablet with a very tasty 2,048×1536 IPS display. The 80 Platinum is an 8 inch model with a 1,024×768 display. The 116 Platinum has a large 11.6 inch IPS display.

All of the tablets are equipped with powerful quad core processors and 8 core graphics. They all ship with 2GB of memory and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. They include a plethora of software preinstalled, including Google Maps and Gmail.

US pricing has been announced: The 97 Platinum will be $299. 80 Platinum will be $199 and the 116 Platinum will be released in April at $349.

Technically these look to be very competitively priced with an excellent list of hardware specifications. Archos however have failed to inspire consumers in the past with many complaints about the build quality and buggy software. We hope the new range address these concerns.
