The Burger King twitter account was hacked yesterday and the offenders decided to post profane messages to the public. They also changed the profile picture to a McDonald's logo.
The hackers had control for around an hour until Burger King successfully had Twitter suspend the account. Burger King aren't that active on their page, tweeting a few times a week normally.
After noon, the hackers tweeted on the Burger King page “We just got sold to McDonalds!’” changing the background picture to McDonald's new Fish McBites.
55 tweets followed which included references to using drugs, racial epithets and random swearing. One post said “if I catch you at a wendys, we’re fightin!”
Later in the day Burger King tweeted “Interesting day here at BURGER KING, but we’re back! Welcome to our new followers. Hope you all stick around!”
Burger King still aren't aware who hacked the account and a spokesman for Burger King said they would be posting an apology on Facebook.
Kitguru says: McDonalds responded on Twitter empathizing with the situation and said they had nothing to do with their logo showing on the Burger King page.
