The Wii U's future as one of the main consoles available for consumers is really not looking good. Not even taking into consideration the fact that many consumers confuse it with its predecessor, its price is already dropping because of poor sales – and another developer has announced its upcoming titles won't be ported to it either.
These two come from developer Deep Silver, who's currently working on Dead Island: Riptide and Saints Row IV, which said that neither would be ported to the Wii U – the main reason being that it didn't want to mess with the engine to make it work.
“One of the opportunities we had for Riptide was to continue the development of the engine, and really improve it and make a lot of refinements,” creative producer Alexander Toplansky said while speaking with Digital Spy.
“The things that are required to bring something to a new platform, you need to either really get to be integrating it deep into the engine, or you've got to [do] a port. Neither one of those was a satisfactory outcome for us, so we decided to do what we got platform-wise and just make sure that we can deliver the best experience we can.
It did however add the caveat that this wasn't something it had ruled out, but that for now it wasn't being considered.
KitGuru Says: Things get worse and worse for the Wii U. Maybe I'll be able to get one ridiculously cheap for Monster Hunter Ultimate now?
