Rumour: Wii U still selling really badly

It looks like according to one analyst at least, the Wii U is still selling incredibly poorly. To put it in perspective, it was outsold by the Xbox 360, PS3, and the previous generation's Wii, throughout the whole of April.

The numbers paint a more detailed picture, though hardly an impressive one. The Wii U is said to have sold only 38,000 units in April, which when you think that the Wii sold 42,000, seems hard to believe. In comparison, the Xbox 360 and PS3 sold over 100,000 units a piece, with the former adding another 30k to that figure.

The stats aren't 100% accurate though, so don't take them as gospel.

Nintendo's new console is bombing badly and it's hard to see what the Japanese gaming giant can do to turn this one around. It isn't holding a big E3 event to get people excited, but it will at least be letting consumers try out new Wii U games before they're officially on shelves, which might help a bit. Excitement though, will all be aimed at Microsoft and Sony with the unveiling of their next-generation systems, not Nintendo.

KitGuru Says: If Nintendo wants to turn this generation around, it's going to have to do something special, but considering a lot of the audience for the Wii U barely knows it exists and that it isn't a simple Wii upgrade (although arguably that's exactly what it is) I have no idea what.
