Nordic Games wins Darksiders and Red Faction in THQ auction

Some of the final assets of the defunct publisher, THQ, have now been sold off, with Darksiders not going to its expected home in newly formed Crytek USA (made up of mostly old Vigil staffers) but to Nordic Games, which had a hand in publishing the Gothic series of games through JoWood Entertainment and more recently, Alan Wake.

But what was the price that Crytek USA wasn't willing to pay? $4.9 million. Along with both Darksiders and Red Faction, this garnered the Swedish publisher MX vs ATV, Destroy all Humans!, Summoner, Marvel Super Hero Squad and Supreme Commander.

Anyone else spend ages playing this one? Multiplayer was good fun, chaining away with attacks. Right click, right click…

Philipp Brock, Nordic's PR head said of the purchase (via Eurogamer): “As we still have some open points with regards to a couple of titles we will not publish a comprehensive list at this stage. However, once everything is fixed and the ink is dry (around mid-May) we will go out with a comprehensive list of titles which we have acquired in the process then.”

Other notable buys at the auction include Gearbox taking control of the Homeworld IP and 505 Games bought up Drawn to Life.

KitGuru Says: Here's hoping for a new contemporary Summoner. I can't tell you how much time I spent playing that. I think I it holds my endurance record for gaming, around the 13 hour mark. Not mind blowing by any means, but I can't imagine playing any game for that long now.
