Vampire Survivors became a huge hit in 2022 and with the game's arrival on additional platforms this year, its popularity has only grown. In recent months, we've heard whispers about a secret ‘Directer's Cut' version of the game with extra content not seen in the version we have today. This week, the developers not only confirmed that this version exists but also confirmed that all of the extra content will make its way into the game through free updates.
The Vampire Survivors Director's Cut has been shown at several events since TGS 2022, often hiding in plain sight. Footage of it in action appeared online this month via Laura Kate Dale earlier this month, giving us an early look at some of the secrets hiding in this new version of the game.
The Directer's Cut phrasing isn't a spelling mistake, but rather a reference to one of the hidden end-game bosses in Vampire Survivors, known as The Directer. This version of the game includes new characters, weapons, new weapon evolutions and other content. In an official teaser, developer Poncle uploaded a teaser giving us a bitesize look at some of the new weapons in action.
In the game's latest Steam Update post, Poncle confirms that Vampire Survivors has now moved to a new engine. Not only that, but the footage seen in the Directer's Cut version will be coming to the main game that players already own through free updates in 2023 and beyond. We would assume that some extra paid DLC will also be on the way at some point in the future too. So far, Vampire Survivors has added two additional paid DLCs with new levels for players to get through.
Vampire Survivors also just recently launched on Nintendo Switch consoles and all versions of the game now have access to couch co-op gameplay.
