Bethesda promises more Starfield improvements and feature upgrades as first patch drops

It has been a week since Starfield officially became available worldwide. While the launch version of the game is pretty stable, there are lingering bugs and feature requests that the player base would like to see addressed. Bethesda is now hard at work on patches, promising to add features like DLSS.

Starfield launched with support for AMD's FSR2 upscaling technology but without support for Nvidia DLSS or Intel XeSS. After observing feedback from PC players, Bethesda has now revealed plans to add DLSS in a future update, alongside a few other feature additions, like 32:9 monitor support, an FOV slider, a proper HDR calibration menu as well as brightness & contrast controls and most importantly, an eat button for food.

Bethesda's tweet also notes that it is continuing to work with AMD, Intel and Nvidia on driver updates to improve PC performance and stability. Next year, we'll see the introduction of built-in mod support in Starfield, similar to the systems already in place in Fallout 4 and Skyrim, which will allow for multi-platform mods. Bethesda's Todd Howard already revealed in a recent interview that Starfield's full modding kit will be available in 2024 as well.

There is a new patch for Starfield rolling out today on all platforms, which is described as a “small hotfix targeted at the few top issues” Bethesda has observed since launch. Bigger improvements, like the introduction of proper city maps, are a little further off but are being explored.

KitGuru Says: I recently wrapped up my first playthrough of Starfield and am now diving into New Game+. As much as I love the game right now in its current form, there are improvements that can be made and it sounds like we can expect plenty of those over the next several months.
