Platinum Games has made some fantastic games for Nintendo consoles over the years. Now, the company is in the process of acquiring the trademark rights back. We're still awaiting news on IP like Astral Chain, but in the meantime, it appears that Platinum Games has taken ownership of The Wonderful 101.
The Wonderful 101 was originally an exclusive for the Wii U, but a remaster did eventually release across multiple platforms. Now, a new document discovered on Reddit shows that the trademark for The Wonderful 101 is in the process of being transferred from Nintendo to Platinum.
While Platinum Games did already own the rights to The Wonderful 101 Remastered, it did not own the name as a whole, just that one specific remastered release, as well as its spin-off, The Wonderful One.
The Wonderful 101 was well known for being a dream project from former Platinum VP, Hideaki Kamiya, who is no longer at the company. It is unclear what Platinum will end up doing with the series moving forward, now that it seemingly wholly owns the IP.

KitGuru Says: The Wonderful 101 has often struck me as an underrated gem. While those that played it will sing the game's praises, it didn't reach as wide an audience as titles like Bayonetta or Nier Automata.
