Angry Birds maker releasing new games in 2012

Angry Birds has proven to be one of the most popular games in 2011, with millions of people snagging the game for their new iOS and Apple devices. The sales aren't showing signs of slowing down either, with reported claims of 6.5 million downloads on Christmas Day alone last year. Analysts reckon that almost everyone who activated a new smartphone has downloaded this game.

Angry Birds maker ROVIO spoke to All Things Digital and said “We’re really excited to have such a massive number of new people get acquainted with Angry Birds over the holidays — we have exciting new releases lined up for 2012, and can’t wait to introduce them to the public.”

There are no indications yet what games they have planned, and whether they will rework the Angry Birds theme into more titles. They already have Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons and Angry Birds Rio available on application stores worldwide. A completely new title perhaps with a physics implementation? Let's hope so.

Kitguru says: People can't get enough of Angry Birds. They are even planning a movie.
