Crash Bandicoot: On the Run! shuts down after less than two years

In today’s age of constantly updated and always-online video games, it is far too simple for a game to disappear forever, unpreserved. Unfortunately, such is the case with the recently-released mobile runner Crash Bandicoot: On the Run!, which is being wholly shut down after less than two years.

Making the announcement on the official Facebook page, the Crash team said: “Crash fans, it’s with a heavy heart that we inform you on February 16, 2023 we will terminate service for Crash Bandicoot: On the Run. On that date the servers will be taken down and the game will no longer be playable.”

Those who wish to keep playing until this date may do so, however it is worth noting that as of right now, all in-app purchases have been turned off – though you can still use your already available leftover purple crystals.

Concluding their statement, the team said “It has meant so much to bring your favourite Crash characters to life and we've sincerely loved making this game. Thank you for spending your time with us and we hope you will join us in one of our many other games.”

It is truly a shame to see just how many digital games are disappearing from existence with little trace left behind so soon after their launch. The mobile market is particularly guilty of this, and unfortunately this time Crash Bandicoot was the victim.
