Samsung sell 10 million Galaxy devices in India

Samsung Electronics said they have sold 10 million Galaxy devices in India since the launch of the first Galaxy device the ‘Galaxy S' in June 2010.

There is no doubt that Samsung have been releasing a series of world class products in this range since it was announced. Devices such as the (launched in October 2011), Galaxy SII (May 2011), Galaxy Tab (November 2011), Galaxy Tab 2 310 (May 2012) and Galaxy SIII have all sold extremely well in the last 2 years.

Samsung sales are strong globally, but there is no doubt that the Indian market have appreciated their high build quality and competitive pricing.

Samsung VP for Mobile, Asim Warsi said “Through our series of consistent Smartphone launches, Samsung has fuelled the growth of the smartphone market in India and has been a category leader since last year. Samsung’s portfolio of 13 Galaxy devices in the Indian market are priced between Rs 6,790 to Rs 39,990.”

The Indian market is important to all the major players, as mobile handsets were recorded at 102.43 million units between January and June 2012 (CyberMedia Research India Mobile Handsets Market Review).

Kitguru says: Samsung are claiming a 41.6 percent share of the 5.50 million smartphones market.
