Sony is unwilling to commit to Windows Phone 8 at this stage

While Windows Phone 8 is currently set for a late October launch and some high profile product announcements occurring in the very recent past and coming weeks from the likes of Samsung, Nokia and HTC, Sony still isn't convinced.

Sony still appears to hesitant to expand to Windows Phone devices.

While Windows Phone prototypes from the company have been leaked in times gone by, they are yet to bring a device to market – and this is unlikely to change, at least initally, with the impending launch of Windows Phone 8.

Sony's Pierre Perron says:

“Sony's strategy is one of openness. Microsoft is a Sony partner with the likes of our VAIO laptops and it's integrated onto our tablets. As far as Xperia smartphones go, Android remains the preferred partner, although Sony is not a single partner company.”

So while Android is the Japanese company's preferred smartphone operating system, they are not dedicated to Google's solution alone.

KitGuru says: Personally I'd love to see a Windows Phone handset from Sony.
