Samsung’s request to stay Galaxy Nexus injunction denied

Last week Apple was granted a preliminary injunction on the sale of Samsung's Galaxy Nexus in the United States. Not willing to bend over, Samsung filed an appeal and asked for a stay on the sales injunction until the appeal was resolved, however, judge Koh has denied Samsung's request for a stay.

Now could be the time to act if you want a Galaxy Nexus.

So what happens now? The Galaxy Nexus will not be permitted to be on store shelves. However, Samsung plans to keep on selling the flagship Nexus smartphone by releasing an over-the-air update that finds a way around the multiple-source search patent that led to the preliminary injunction. This patch could be made public later today and Samsung will then file a motion to dissolve the injunction.

Google has also put its hand up to assist Samsung in its appeal of the ban. The pair also hopes to question the legitimacy of Apple's universal search patent.

For now the injunction means that all sales and shipments of the Galaxy Nexus are prohibited, although chances are your local retailer will still sell them until stock runs dry.

KitGuru says: This isn't looking good for Samsung. If you are in the United States and want a Galaxy Nexus we advise you act fast.
