Windows Phone 8 was formally unveiled yesterday and a video featuring Joe Belfiore, the manager of the Windows Phone group at Microsoft shows off many of the new features found in the new platform. [yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQZEkXCE_fY']
Capabilities covered in the video include new Live Tile abilities, Live Apps, Data Sense, Office, integration with Windows 8 and more – all in the hope that you will be purchasing a Windows Phone device when they go on sale around the world in the coming weeks.
A problem I have had with Windows Phone 7 is the lack of an app ecosystem. This problem should largely be dissipated with WP8 as 46 of the top 50 mobile applications will be available. The quality of games will also be vastly improved.
KitGuru says: With Windows Phone 8 it looks as if Microsoft has delivered a platform that can complete with Android and iOS – but sales will determine if it succeeds or not.
