Nokia begins Windows Phone 7.8 rollout

As we expected it to, Windows Phone 7.8 is now rolling out to existing Windows Phone 7.x users. Nokia has announced that the update will start to rollout today to the Lumia 510, Lumia 610, Lumia 710, Lumia 800 and Lumia 900.

The updates are dependent on carriers and given early reports all of them appear to be on top of their game. Please note that the update is gradual and is not yet available to every handset; that feat should be accomplished by the end of February. Users will also have to connect their phones to their Zune-equipped PC in order to update to Windows Phone 7.8.

The main new features include the new resizable live tiles, the removal of the  black space that was formerly on the right hand side of the tiles, more colour themes and the option to use Bing's image of the day as your lockscreen.

KitGuru says: While it may not sound like a lot, it should win over existing users until their next smartphone upgrade.

KitGuru Games: The Best Console is the One in Your Pocket

Emulation is the saving grace of the video games industry. Despite its controversial nature, the technology will be the only way in which all games are preserved for the future – free from licensing agreements and other such nonsense. Better still is the fact that in a majority of cases, emulation allows for a more accurate recreation of the game’s original experience than official offerings, due to countless complex shaders, filters and tweakable settings. And the best part? Thanks to the progression of technology, your humble smartphone is able to do all this and more – giving you the power of 10,000 games in the palm of your hand.

  1. Well and good. That black space on the right was wasted real estate on these small screens!
