Android 4.1.2 rolling out to more Nexus devices

A week ago today the Android 4.1.2 update started to roll out to the Nexus 7 tablet and now the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S are getting the same treatment.

This latest version of Android is a rather minor update and brings improvements to the expandable notifications introduced in Jelly Bean. Notifications can now be expanded or retracted with one finger, as opposed to the previous two finger gestures. The usual bug fixes are included while some users are reporting that the user interface feels smoother. The landscape user interface has unsurprisingly not made its way over from the Nexus 7.

As is typical of new Android versions, you'll be waiting at least a few months (or forever) before Android 4.1.2 arrives on your Android device. If you have a Verizon or Sprint model expect to wait a while as well.

KitGuru says: Android's update system is fundamentally broken at heart but improvements are improvements.

KitGuru Games: The Best Console is the One in Your Pocket

Emulation is the saving grace of the video games industry. Despite its controversial nature, the technology will be the only way in which all games are preserved for the future – free from licensing agreements and other such nonsense. Better still is the fact that in a majority of cases, emulation allows for a more accurate recreation of the game’s original experience than official offerings, due to countless complex shaders, filters and tweakable settings. And the best part? Thanks to the progression of technology, your humble smartphone is able to do all this and more – giving you the power of 10,000 games in the palm of your hand.
