With a guide price of around £45/$59, this product is not cheap, but it is certainly a novel solution to the need for juice.
Let's have a look at the packaging.
The back of the main box includes a list of products that it is compatible with. You will notice that the Samsung products are in a slightly separate box, indicating that you will need to use the additional receiver (in the small box at the front). If you have an older Samsung product (e.g. S3 or S4) then you will need to buy one of these product-specific receivers for around £7/$10.
We've included a full copy of the latest list at the end of this page.
Inside, you can see that Luxa2 is prepared to ship this product across the globe – as it comes complete with an interchangeable plug system for most mains outlets.
There are instructions and the TX-200 Dual Wireless Charging Station itself.
Turn the main unit slightly sideways and you can see the power input socket and the USB outlet – which gives you the option for 3-way charging action.
We've opted for a Nokia 1520 with Battery Meter installed. This is a free app that only takes up 3MB and provides a nice large display of how well your battery charge is doing – and how long it will last with your current usage model.
The rate of charge we measured on the Nokia was from ‘completely depleted' to ‘completely full' in around 3 hours 45 minutes – which is similar to our experience charge off a standard wall socket.
We got a similar result with a HTC phone.
The rubberised charging zones are clever and should prevent scratches from spoiling your phone's exterior.
Which products will it work with? Well, at the time of writing, Luxa2's web site says:-
