New Apple TV to use A4 processor – shock $99 price point!

If you thought Apple TV was a cool idea but cost too much then the new revamp, due for release shortly might just tickle your taste buds. Engadget have reported that the next version will run iPhone OS 4.0 with a minimal amount of ram and will be reduced in price from $229 to $99.

It will run on Apples new A4 processor, first since in the iPad – which means Apple TV will be capable of handling and decoding 1080p HD Video and displaying it on your HDTV. We hope they will also supply a new remote system.

KitGuru says: $99 price point? We wonder how Apple are going to make any money from this.

  1. Engaged have this wrong, $99 for an apple product? hardly likely.

  2. Apple TV is rubbish, there is not enough CODEC support. seriously, $99 is still too much.

  3. Chipworks has developed a photo of the A4 SOC die showing some logic details. I’ve got it posted on my blog at http://www.technomicon.com.
