New Macbook Pro may not get retina display

The new Macbook Pro is to be announced at WWDC 2012 tomorrow, however leaked information online from Chinese forum WeiPhone claims that the new machines will have the same design as the old models, down to the same screw placement.

WeiPhone are a strong source of accurate leaked information and the pictures show different components in a similarly shaped motherboard that has the exact same holes as the current model. This shows that the exterior aluminum unibody design will be exactly the same.

The 15 inch Macbook Pro will ship with 2.3ghz, 2.5ghz and 2.7ghz Ivy Bridge Intel processors. They will have Nvidia Geforce GT 650M graphics onboard with 1GB of GDDR5 memory. There is no indication that they will ship with Retina displays, which will be disappointing for many people.

Gizmodo say that there might be a high end model with all the goodies: “However, don't start to cry yet. There may be a top of the line MacBook Pro just like the ones everyone is hoping for, one with a solid state drive, a 15-inch Retina Display and a design similar to the MacBook Air. Who knows, maybe there will be new MacBook Pros looking just the same and a new MacBook Air 15-inch.”
