Toshiba are spending around $1.2 billion to build a factory to make small LCD panels for Apple iPhones.

This new plant will be producing low temperature polysilicon LCD panels, which allow for high resolution images and work on the plant will be starting in Q1 of 2011 and production will be in the second half of 2011.

Toshiba Mobile Display already produce low temperature polysilicon LCD panels, capable of building 8.55 million units each month. The new factory will increase this production rate to around 20 million units a month.
