Steve Jobs action figure sells on ebay, after being blocked

MIC Gadget has began selling figurines of Apple CEO Steve Jobs, dressed in trademark black mock turtleneck, blue jeans and New Balance Trainers, holding an iPhone. Some of them have been selling on eBay for $2,500 even though a law firm representing Apple have blocked the company from selling them.

MIC Gadget have sold out of the initial run of 300 limited edition figures and within days Apple sent a cease and desist email to the website, citing California Civil Code Section 3344, ‘which prohibits the use of any person’s name, photograph or likeness in a product without that person’s prior consent.'

Some people are saying that the auctions are highly dubious and may be an attempt by resellers to manipulate the figures price on the secondary market. One of the auctions for instance listed a starting price of $1,000 and sold for the $2,500 buy now price without any bids. This seller had no feedback since 2008 either.

KitGuru says: Are you interested in ordering one? The likeness is certainly good!

  1. $2,500? lol.

Sure, for a holiday gift for a friend at $30 maybe. but people cant be buying this at that price. I would agree with the scam idea.
