Nokia attack Apple with yet more patent claims

Honestly, if we could make this into a soap opera it would be more popular than Eastenders in the UK. Nokia have taken the gloves off again, and have responded to Friday's ITC determination by filling another complaint against Apple, this time they are claiming that seven new patents are being violated and are calling for an import ban on their products.

The International Trade Commission has the power to prevent patent infringing products from being imported into the States, which is exactly what Nokia want to happen. Nokia however haven't had much luck lately, as the ITC judge issued an initial determination on their last complaint, in favour of Apple. Nokia's answer is to file another. The Finns are certainly persistent.

Nokia say “Nokia does not agree with the ITC's initial determination.”‘ They say they are “waiting to see the full details of the ruling before deciding on the next steps in that case”.

The ruling still needs an ITC vote, which is scheduled for August, but Nokia isn't sitting back watching the clock, with this additional case for 7 more patents, they are kicking hard.

No documentation has been made public, but Nokia say that synchronisation, positioning, call quality and multitasking are all involved in the newest filing. Whether they will have a more positive outcome remains to be seen, but we will keep you posted.

KitGuru says: Apple v Nokia, Nokia v Apple. There really isn't a lot of love involved.
