Apple plan on settling with Android

Steve Jobs may have said that he was going to crush Android but the latest news suggests that Apple are planning to settle with Android manufacturers. New leader Tim Cook appears to have a different view on the matter.

Jobs famously said “I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple’s $40 billion in the bank, to right this wrong, I’m going to destroy Android, because it’s a stolen product. I’m willing to go thermonuclear war on this.” Fierce words indeed.

Dow Jones newswires are claiming that Apple have proposed settlements with at least two Android smartphone vendors – Samsung and Motorola. The company would look to collect royalties between $5 and $15 for each Android handset sold. A complete shift in strategy from the company under new Tim Cook leadership.
