Overwatch mobile game reportedly in development

Known industry insider Jason Schreier recently released his book ‘Play Nice: The Rise, Fall, and Future Of Blizzard Entertainment,’ revealing all sorts of interesting details on the inner workings of the studio. According to Schreier one of Blizzard’s current projects is a mobile version of their popular hero shooter Overwatch.

As transcribed by Dexerto, Schreier revealed as part of his latest book that Blizzard have been working on a smartphone port of the hero shooter, saying “Overwatch was led by Walter Kong, who oversaw the release of regular heroes and content for Overwatch 2, as well as new projects like a mobile version of the franchise.”

While no further information was shared, it seems as though the portable release remains in active development – and is not one of their many scrapped ideas (such as the desire by ex CEO Bobby Kotick to release a new Guitar Hero every single month).

Currently, it is also unknown whether the upcoming release will function as a direct port of the main Overwatch, or whether it will be its own separate experience. We will have to wait and see.
