iPhone 12 pre-orders said to be ‘double’ what iPhone 11 achieved

The iPhone had a bit of a down year in 2019-2020 but things are quickly turning around with the iPhone 12. Pre-orders for Apple's latest iOS line-up went live last week and already, orders seem to be double that of the iPhone 11.

According to Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo (via 9to5mac), iPhone 12 pre-orders have reached around 1.7 million to 2 million within the first 24 hours. That is compared to 500,000 to 800,000 pre-orders for the iPhone 11 on its first day.

This still isn't quite Apple's peak though, as the iPhone 6 had four million pre-orders in its first day. That went on to become Apple's best selling iPhone for quite some time.

Kuo also touches on the market split between the standard iPhone 12 and the Pro. Apparently, demand for the Pro model is higher than anticipated, with demand split closer to 50/50. This goes against previous estimations, which put the cheaper iPhone 12 as the more popular model.

KitGuru Says: The iPhone 12 appears to be off to a good start but for now, we are just dealing with pre-order numbers in the first 24 hours. It will be interesting to see the final results at the end of the quarter during Apple's next earnings report.
