Apple boom in enterprise activations: iPad huge success

A recent report from Good Technology shows that Apple's iOS devices are growing in the enterprise sector, now accounting for 65 percent of all devices activated.

The report for some reason is ignoring Research In Motion and their BlackBerry enterprise mobile phone. If they were included, Apple and Android would be completely overshadowed by RIM's 55 million plus customers – a huge chunk of which are enterprise users who rely on the BlackBerry Messenger and email services. That said, the growth rate of Apple products is exceptionally impressive.

The survey was gathered from several thousand companies, including 40 on the Fortune 100 list.

Android devices are steady at around 30 percent of enterprise activations however Windows Mobile is showing a dire 5 percent in activation figures over the course of the analysis.

The iPhone 4 is a popular device and accounts for around 35 percent of all mobile devices being activated for enterprise use in December, down from around 40 percent of all devices activated in October. 30 percent of all devices activated in December were iPads – a good indication of an ‘end of the year' boost in tablet sales.

KitGuru says: The fourth quarter was a huge success story for Apple with 80 of the largest companies in the world on the Fortune 100 list now testing or using the Apple iPad.
