Apple to release ‘revolutionary’ new product this year

ApplesInsider published an article this weekend which highlighted news on a partnership between Apple and well known French designer Phillippe Starck. He said that he was working with Apple on releasing a ‘revolutionary' new product that will be released within the next 8 months.

According to the report, Starck spoke on the radio with France info, although details on the product itself were not forthcoming.

He said “Indeed, there is a big project together which will be out in eight months. He said he couldn't divulge details due to Apple's “religious cult of secrecy.” This would ensure that other companies can't get the drop on Apple.

Starck apparently had a relationship with the late Steve Jobs, meeting up with him, once a month at his Palo Alto home.

The 'Pibal' - designed by Starck.

The French designer has created a bizarre list of products, from toothbrushes to motorbikes.

Starck has designed high grade iPhone/iPod speakers and headphones for the company Parrot in 2008 but there is no other link with Apple in the past.

Appleinsider mention that the connection could well be to do with the upcoming Apple Television set which the company are said to be working on now. A report which circulated indicated that Jonathan Ive, one of Apple's main designers already has a 50 inch Apple television at his own design studio.

You can visit his website here.

Kitguru says: Other people have indicated that Starck could be linked with the next generation iPhone, although as usual with Apple, they are confirming nothing.
