Gavriella Schuster, part of the Windows Team has posted on his blog that there will be a new public beta of Windows 7 SP1 released next month.
Schuster said: “SP1 will not contain any new features that are specific to Windows 7 itself[, but] will simply be the combination of updates already available through Windows Update and additional hotfixes based on feedback by our customers and partners.”
This is a bit of a kick in the teeth for many enthusiasts who always yearn for new features and additions with service packs, however we feel this update is more for the business user … companies who have been waiting for the first series of important patches and bug fixes before adoption.
That said, Service packs prove popular with the enthusiast audience as many people create their own rolled in DVD's with all the updates already prepatched for the next system resinstall. A full ‘official' release of Windows 7 SP1 is due out around October.
KitGuru says: Corporate business users will be most happy with this release.
