Microsoft to host Windows 10 event in January

Microsoft is preparing a Windows 10 event for the 21st of January, where it will likely show off the most recent advancements to the OS and give us a peek at the upcoming consumer preview, which is rumoured to have new features, such as Cortana, the Windows Phone digital assistant.

Not only that but Phil Spencer, the head of Microsoft's Xbox division has teased his future plans for Windows gaming on Twitter, saying: “I'll be focusing more on what we are doing on Win10 in January, it's time for us to talk about gaming on Windows.”

The consumer preview is expected to launch at the event in January. Microsoft is planning to create a cross platform ecosystem with Windows 10, we already know what that means for desktops, laptops and Windows Phone devices but we have yet to learn what Microsoft's plans for the Xbox One and Windows Gaming are.

Few details are available right now but we would expect to hear more news fairly soon, we usually see leaks leading up to events like this.

KitGuru Says: It will be interesting to see what Microsoft's future plans are not just for Windows gaming but also for the Windows 10 OS as a whole. The final product won't be available until late Summer but those using the preview seem to have positive impressions so far. How many of you guys are using the Windows 10 preview?
