You can now pilot a mech in the newest No Man’s Sky update

Like clockwork, the developers over at Hello Games have dropped a massive new No Man’s Sky update – and as always it is 100% free. The new ‘Sentinel’ update focuses on combat, with “a total overhaul of weapon systems; new lore and stories; all-new Sentinel enemies.”

In a typically massive blog post on their website, Hello Games have released the full patch notes for update 3.8 ‘Sentinel’ which is “introducing a total overhaul of weapon systems; new lore and stories; all-new Sentinel enemies and combat behaviours; the ability to reprogram and adopt your very own friendly AI drone; and much, much more!”

The headlining features arriving with this update includes:

  • Planetary Sentinel forces have a significant new tool in their armoury – the Hardframe Battle Mech
  • All Multi-Tool systems, from the Mining Laser to the Scatter Blaster, have received a significant visual overhaul
  • Nvidia DLAA and AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution support
  • A new Cloaking Device is available to research aboard the Space Anomaly
  • Travellers may now install a Minotaur AI Pilot within their Exomech
  • Brand new Exobiology Expedition
  • Combat has been significantly improved to create a faster-paced, more varied and dynamic experience
  • No Man’s Sky has been specially optimised for the Steam Deck, and controls have been adjusted to take advantage of touch screen input

These are but a few of the dozens of updates, fixes, improvements and refinements. No Man’s Sky is continuing to be the champion in post-launch support, and with the game coming to Switch soon (and Steam Deck), No Man’s Sky will soon be available on every modern gaming device.
