Xbox Games with Gold for September announced

Each month, Microsoft offers four free games to those who are subscribed to the console manufacturer’s Xbox Live Gold service. For the month of September, subscribers can get their hands on Tom Clancy’s The Division, The Book of Unwritten Tales 2, de Blob 2, and Armed and Dangerous. These games will begin to be offered from the 1st of September.

The headlining free game for the month is The Division. Released in 2016, The Division offered a hybrid RPG which featured customisation; an explorable open world; dynamic multiplayer; and “tactical action combat”. While many of its multiplayer components are likely to be lacking 4 years after release, the game still offers plenty to do solo.

The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 is a point-and-click adventure game, which “hilariously spoofs some of the most beloved and famous fantasy stories ever written”. With “over 20 hours of story, help the quirky cast of characters fulfill their destiny in the tricky world of Avantasia”. The game received favourable reviews upon its release in 2015.

De Blob 2 is an Xbox 360 game available through backwards compatibility, which offers “an action-packed colorful adventure,” where “the Inkies are back with a new plot to rid the world of color and it is up to Blob to stop them. Featuring a unique painting functionality as the main game mechanic,” de Blob 2 received generally favourable reviews.

The final game on offer is Armed and Dangerous. Also available via backwards compatibility, this classic Xbox title features “a witty story that parodies popular media” as you “meet the Lionhearts, a smack-talking band of rebels on an impossible mission to save the world – that is if they don’t burn it down first.”

The Division will be available from the 1st of September to the 30th. The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 meanwhile will be purchasable from the 16th of September to the 15th of October. De Blob 2 is available from the 1st of September to the 15th, and last but not least, Armed and Dangerous will be available to purchase for free from the 16th of September until the 30th.
