Xbox exclusive Contraband “is a ways off, for sure” claims insider

Announced back in 2021, Contraband is an Xbox console exclusive currently in development by Avalanche Studios and set to be published by Microsoft themselves. We have heard pretty much nothing officially from the game ever since – and it seems we are unlikely to for quite a while. According to one insider, the game is “a ways off for sure.”

With the Xbox Games Showcase mere days away, the discourse surrounding what will and won’t show up has begun to bubble over. One game brought into discussion has been Avalanche Studios’ Contraband.

According to the same leaker who gave us the initial details for the game via the XNC Podcast, Contraband has been internally “delayed well into 2025, could be the end of 2025 for all we know.”

Adding further credence to this claim, known industry insider Tom Warren commented on the stream, stating that “Contraband is a ways off, for sure”

For the uninitiated, Contraband is reportedly set to be a first-person co-op heist game, supporting  up to 8 players and includes car chases. Set in the 1970s, this is pretty much all we know so far. With even these ancillary details being unofficial however, it is unlikely we’ll be getting any sort of look at Contraband during the upcoming Xbox Showcase.
