X019 will be the “BIGGEST. INSIDE XBOX. EVER.”

Xbox’s annual fan convention will be taking place on the 14th of November in London. Ahead of its opening, Microsoft has released a promo video, teasing some of the announcements fans can expect to see when Xbox goes live at 8PM GMT, including “news from over 10 Xbox Game Studios titles”, and “new game reveals”.

The video, titled “BIGGEST. INSIDE XBOX. EVER. X019 Special Promo” is certainly creating lofty expectations. The promo video promises “news from over 10 Xbox Game Studios titles”, “new game reveals”, “huge Xbox Game Pass news”, a “Project xCloud update” and “so much more”. Some of the games confirmed to be at the conference include Wasteland 3, Microsoft Flight Simulator, Minecraft Dungeons, Sea of Thieves, CrossfireX and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Last year’s X018 brought with it a bevy of announcements including Obsidian Entertainment and inXile Entertainment being acquired by Microsoft, new Xbox Game Pass titles, as well as updates on games such as Forza Horizon 4, Minecraft and Sea of Thieves. Xbox also used X018 to announce new games being added to its backwards compatibility catalogue, mouse and keyboard support for its console and the launch of Microsoft’s ‘adaptive controller’.

Xbox’s promise that this year will be its biggest yet brings with it a certain level of expectation, especially as its next generation console “Xbox Scarlett” is just over a year away. Could information on Scarlett be part of the “so much more” that Xbox is promising for X019? Regardless, it seems that Xbox are continuing to try to capitalise on Sony’s relative silence this year. While Sony appears to be waiting for 2020 to make its big splash on the video game market, Microsoft seems to be using the time to make 2019 all about the Xbox.
