The Nintendo Switch is the 3rd best-selling console ever

Since its launch in Spring of 2017, the Nintendo Switch has consistently sold like hotcakes, with the handheld-console hybrid finding itself near the top of the list of best-selling consoles. With the latest figures released, it is safe to say that the Switch could very well end up being the best-selling console of all time – having sold over 125 million units so far.

Nintendo recently updated its hardware and software sales figures, revealing that during the 3 months ending on the 31st of March, Nintendo sold 3.07 million Switches, bringing the total number of systems sold to 125.62 million.

This latest figure puts the Switch ahead of both the PlayStation 4 (117.2 million) and Game Boy / Game Boy Colour (118.69 million), making it the 3rd best-selling console of all time – handhelds included.

Being over 6 years old now, the Switch is certainly starting to feel its age, and so it will be interesting to see just how many more units it will sell – and whether the console will approach the DS and PS2’s 150+ million units sold. Time will tell, but it is starting to feel quite likely.

KitGuru says: What do you think of this updated figure? Are you surprised by its success? What do you think the Switch’s final hardware sales number will be? Let us know down below.
