The Callisto Protocol has officially gone Gold

The Callisto Protocol is one of the biggest games still set to release this year, with the survival action horror title planning to launch on the 2nd of December. Over a month ahead of this date, the team at Striking Distance Studios have now announced that The Callisto Protocol has gone Gold.

Making the announcement on Twitter, the official Callisto Protocol account said “We are thrilled to announce that #thecallistoprotocol has gone gold! On behalf of everyone at @sd_studios, thank you for your support and excitement. We can't wait for you to face the horrors waiting in Black Iron Prison on December 2nd. And salud to our team in Spain. Couldn't have done it without you.”

In a nice moment of Sportsmanship, the official Dead Space Twitter responded to the announcement, saying “Congratulations to the team. Dec 2nd can’t come soon enough” — with Striking Distance Studios replying “Thanks for the support. Something tells us you'll be ready for the mayhem on Callisto.”

Going Gold means the game is pretty much complete barring a plethora of bug fixes and final tweaks. Of course, in an era where almost all games receive post-launch bug fixes and patches, going Gold is not as vital as it once was, but the milestone is still exciting, and suggests that The Callisto Protocol will not be delayed beyond its 2nd of December date.
