Tchia surpasses 1 million players as game gets physical release

Sony’s revamped PlayStation Plus service has been quite a hit, especially the Xbox Game Pass-like ‘PS Plus Extra’ tier. One of the most exciting additions in recent months was the day-one inclusion of Tchia in March. A little over one month following its launch, the game has already surpassed 1 million players.

Making the announcement on Twitter, the team at Awaceb revealed that “Tchia has reached one MILLION players!” saying “Incredibly proud and humbled by this unbelievable milestone. We're so grateful for your support on this journey! Thank you! Merci! Oléti!”

Alongside this announcement, the team officially revealed that the indie title is set to get a physical release, with Tchia Oléti Edition coming to retailers on the 18th of July.

For the uninitiated, Tchia is a cute open-worldish title which sees players “Climb, glide, swim, and sail your boat around a beautiful archipelago in this physics-driven sandbox. Take control of any animal or object you can find, and Jam on your fully playable Ukulele.”

Of course, with the game launching day-one on PS Plus Extra, it is safe to say that 1 million players does not equate to 1 million copies sold. Still, the game’s success both commercially and critically is notable – and is likely to continue growing thanks to the game’s upcoming physical release as well as its (currently undated) Steam launch.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Tchia? Are you one of 1 million? Will you pick it up when it releases on Steam? Let us know down below.
