Star Wars Outlaws comes to Steam this November

For years, Ubisoft has shied away from Steam, with the publisher instead releasing its many games first on the Epic Games Store as well as its own Ubisoft Connect launcher. Finally, the publisher announced that this will change with the upcoming release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows early next year – launching day-one on all platforms. As a result of this shift, the recently-released Star Wars Outlaws is being added to Steam sooner than expected.

Following murmurs of potential dev issues, Ubisoft officially announced that they were delaying Assassin’s Creed Shadows from its initial release date of the 15th of November to Valentines Day 2025. As part of this however, the team also revealed that the game will launch day-one on Steam – marking the end of a years-long move away from Valve’s platform.

In alignment with this change, the recently-released Star Wars Outlaws has had its Steam date brought forward, with the team at Ubisoft stating via a press release:

“In response to player feedback, Ubisoft's development teams are currently fully mobilized to swiftly implement a series of updates to polish and improve the player experience in order to engage a large audience during the holiday season to position Star Wars Outlaws as a strong long-term performer. The game will be available on Steam on November 21.”

While Steam is not the be-all-end-all of PC storefronts, it certainly does offer games the increased possibility of hitting it big – with Palworld’s 15 million copies sold in one month being such an example.

Regardless, it is exciting to see Ubisoft finally giving up on its current strategy, making it easier for more people to play their games where, when and how they want.
