Shin Megami Tensei V’s release date has leaked

Following the overwhelming success of Persona 5, all eyes are on Atlus’ next major title: Shin Megami Tensei V. Announced all the way back in January of 2017, very little has been seen of the game. That said, it has been confirmed to finally be coming in 2021, with a new leak seemingly confirming its release date.

As discovered by Persona Central, the game’s official website accidentally leaked the release date for the much-anticipated JRPG – before being taken back down. According to the official site, Shin Megami Tensei V will come to the Nintendo Switch on the 11th of November.

Previously, the team confirmed that unlike older titles, Shin Megami Tensei V would launch simultaneously worldwide, meaning that the release date on the Japanese website likely applies to the rest of the world too.

The release date’s surprise announcement followed by its quick retraction could mean one of two things: either this is a placeholder or internal date which was accidentally published and does not represent the game’s actual release date, or this reveal was intended to be made at Nintendo’s upcoming E3 Direct (which is set to take place on the 15th of June) – but accidentally went live a bit early.

Either way, with the game set to launch at some point in 2021, it is likely that fans will be given another look at Shin Megami Tensei V at the upcoming Nintendo Direct. It will be interesting to see how it compares to Persona 5.
