Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II could finally come out this year

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II was the very first Xbox Series X/S video game to be announced by Microsoft, officially unveiled alongside the then-next-gen console during the 2019 Game Awards. Despite its early announcement, the status of Hellblade II’s release date remains unknown. That said, Microsoft could finally be teasing the game’s release – with it possibly launching later this year.

As discovered by Reddit user ‘BriefBattle’ Microsoft recently published a brand new ad to its YouTube page for Xbox Game Pass – in particular focused on 2023 releases. Alongside clips of already released games (Hi-Fi RUSH, Minecraft Legends, Guilty Gear Strive etc), the ad also showed off some of the already-known and upcoming Game Pass titles planned for release over the course of 2023.

Interestingly, alongside the likes of Lies of P, Forza Motorsport, Starfield and more, the ad briefly teased Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II – suggesting that the game is likewise planned for release some time in 2023.

As mentioned, Hellblade II was announced a year ahead of the Xbox Series X/S launch, and so to see the game still in development with no official release date many years after the next-gen console’s release could be seen as concerning by some.

All that said, the first Hellblade was an excellent and thought provoking game, and so the team at Ninja Theory have more than earned as much time as they need to get the sequel right. Hopefully it is coming out in 2023 though.
