SEGA planning live-action adaptations of Persona and other Atlus IP

The success of the Sonic the Hedgehog film and its sequel seems to have lit a small semblance of a spark within SEGA regarding the adaption of the publisher’s many intellectual properties. One of SEGA’s most successful currently is the Persona franchise, and following an anime adaption, it seems a live-action film or show is on the way.

In an interview with IGN, SEGA’s head of entertainment productions film and TV ‘Toru Nakahara’ revealed that the publisher is set to adapt many of its IPs into live-action, saying:

“ATLUS' worlds are filled with high drama, cutting-edge style and compelling characters. Stories like those from the Persona franchise really resonate with our fans and we see an opportunity to expand the lore like no one has seen—or played—before. Together, SEGA and ATLUS are working to bring these stories and worlds to life through new mediums and for new audiences.”

As mentioned, SEGA has seen great success with recent live-action Sonic films, and with the publisher also previously announcing live-action adaptations of Yakuza, it seems SEGA is ready to jump into the metaphorical deep pool after dipping its toes into the market with Sonic.

With Persona already confirmed, could we be seeing a Shin Megami Tensei cinematic universe? We'll have to wait and see.
