Rocket League Battle Pass added to Fortnite subscription service

Back in late 2020 Epic Games announced and launched its Fortnite Crew service – an $11.99 monthly subscription which includes access to the game’s Battle Pass as well as ‘free’ V-bucks and some monthly cosmetics. In a surprising move, Epic Games has now added Rocket League’s Battle Pass to Fortnite Crew – potentially saving you a decent amount of money.

Making the announcement on their blog, the Fortnite team said “Starting now, Fortnite Crew is getting a boost! In addition to the Battle Royale Battle Pass, 1,000 V-Bucks every month, and a new monthly ‘Crew Pack’ featuring exclusive items, the Fortnite Crew subscription now includes a bonus: Rocket Pass Premium in Rocket League! Enjoy being a Fortnite Crew member even outside of Fortnite.”

While undoubtedly an exciting new addition for some, it is worth noting that this synergistic cross promotion between the two games might be temporary, with Epic Games stressing the fact that “Bonus Benefits are only guaranteed for the then-current edition of the Fortnite Crew, may not be available to all subscribers on all platforms, and may be changed from month to month, or discontinued.”

Battle Passes have their ups and downs. While many would agree that this revenue stream is preferred over the likes of microtransactions and loot boxes, paying for content which you then have to earn can coerce players into engaging with a game for much longer than initially planned.

That said, for those who play both Fortnite and Rocket League, this latest addition to the subscription service is undoubtedly welcome. Fortnite Crew is available for $11.99 a month.
