Resident Evil 9 internally delayed according to leaker

DuskGolem is well known within the leaker community, offering a ton of details on future Capcom releases – in particular Resident Evil. Previously claiming that there were 5 separate RE titles in the works, the leaker now revealed that one of these (Resident Evil 9) has been delayed internally, though a different title could be announced in the interim.

Sharing the information via their Discord server (and reported by ResetEra user ‘Blackbird’), DuskGolem offered an update on the current status of Capcom’s Resident Evil projects, saying:

“I do know a couple of years ago that the goal was to reveal {Resident Evil 9} this year and aim for a 2025 release, but I have been hearing murmurs the last few months that RE9 might've been internally delayed for one reason or another.”

They continued, “I've seen it suggested that another RE game may end up being announced and released first before RE9, but know this is not something I've heard concretely.”

While nothing official has been shared surrounding Resident Evil 9, DuskGolem has claimed in the past that Capcom will be going full open-world for RE9 – which could explain why the development timeline has been extended. Either way, fans fortunately won’t be hurting for new Resident Evil content.
