Project Eve brings Bayonetta to PlayStation 5

Sony’s 2021 PlayStation showcase brought with it the announcement of major titles, as well as some smaller indies. Lying somewhere in the middle is Project Eve, a spectacle action game in the vein of Devil May Cry and Bayonetta, offering “fluid and zestful” combat.

Announced during the recent Sony PlayStation showcase, Project Eve looks to be taking heavy inspiration from games such as Bayonetta and Devil May Cry. As Eve, “the survivor of the paratrooper squad deployed from the Colony,” you must “fight through powerful enemies with new comrades. We invite you to join Eve’s adventure in the face of unknown creatures on a desolate, destroyed Earth.”

As mentioned, Project Eve looks to be inspired by Bayonetta, putting gameplay first with ‘deliberate’ actions “including attack, defense, and evasion – while remaining fluid and zestful. The only way to survive is to grasp the attack patterns of various enemies and counter with precise timing.“

One of the main focuses with Project Eve is the game’s traversal, with players being able to “Master the terrain by scaling walls, sliding tactically, swinging on ropes, and more. As you make your way through this environment utilizing diverse actions, try exploring and acquiring treasures hidden throughout the world!”

Project Eve comes from a relatively unknown developer, and yet appears to be offering incredibly refined combat, a new IP and intense bombastic action. With Bayonetta being trapped on Nintendo’s relatively low-specced hardware, hopefully Project Eve is able to fill the Bayonetta shaped hole in PlayStation fans’ hearts.
