Paragon: The Overprime will shut down in April

Prior to Fortnite, Epic Games had Paragon – a 3rd person MOBA which was eventually shut down in 2018 as a result of Fortnite’s overwhelming success. In a welcome gesture, Epic released all of the game’s assets for free; spawning two spiritual successors in the form of Predecessor and Paragon: The Overprime. Unfortunately, the latter is now being shut down.

Making the unfortunate announcement on their blog, the team at Netmarble relayed the news, saying “Since Early Access, Paragon: The Overprime has been a work in progress, as we've continued to explore, iterate, and think about different ways to meet our Warriors' expectations.”

They continued, “After careful consideration, we concluded that we will not be able to provide a stable and satisfying service moving forward. Because of this, we have made the decision to end the service on Monday, April 22nd, 2024.”

The team concluded by saying “Once again, we would like to thank all of our Warriors for playing Paragon: The Overprime. We will do our best to keep your experience as seamless as possible until the very end. Thank you.”

It is a shame to see Paragon die not just once, but twice now. Fortunately, the one silver lining which remains is that Paragon’s other spiritual successor – Predecessor – seems to be doing well for itself.

KitGuru says: What did you think of the original Paragon? What about Overprime? Will Predecessor eventually shut down too? Let us know your thoughts down below.
