Paragon spiritual successor ‘Predecessor’ coming to PlayStation this year

Following the cancellation of the Epic Games MOBA Paragon in 2018, the creator released all of the game’s assets online for free, allowing other studios to pick up the mantle where they left off. One of the games spawned from Paragon’s ashes was ‘Predecessor’. Following its Early Access launch late last year on PC, the game has now been announced to be coming to PlayStation consoles.

Making the announcement on their blog, Predecessor’s developers Omeda Studios revealed that “Predecessor is coming to PlayStation!” saying “We're excited to share that you can now wishlist Predecessor on the PlayStation Store ahead of its release later this year! Both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 will be supported.”

Offering more details on how the console release will function, the team continued, “Furthermore we're pleased to confirm that Predecessor will support cross-play and cross-progression, seamlessly bridging the gap between platforms to ensure an accessible, competitive and comprehensive experience for veteran players and newcomers alike.”

For the uninitiated, Predecessor is a fast-paced action game that combines MOBA and FPS gameplay to “put you at the heart of the fight with strategic choice, third person control and immersive action.”

Paragon amassed a small but dedicated following during its lifetime and so it is exciting to see that the game is being revived in one form or another. Hopefully, Predecessor manages to succeed where Paragon did not.
