Since the release of The Last of Us Part II in 2020, Naughty Dog have remained relatively quiet release-wise. While we of course have gotten the likes of TLOU Part I and a remaster for Part II, the cancellation of the studio’s live-service title seemed to push progress back by a bit. In a welcome surprise, it appears as though Naughty Dog are currently not only working on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet but also a second secret project.
As reported by known film industry insider DanielRPK (paywalled) and detailed by TheGamePost, Naughty Dog are said to be working on more than just the previously-announced new IP Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
According to the leaker, beyond Neil Druckmann’s project, a second game is also in the works. Said to not be another entry for The Last of Us, this mysterious project is reportedly being headed by Shaun Escayg – known best for directing the highly-underrated Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.
Little else was shared at the time, however, according to DanielRPK, this project has “been in development for three years now.”
If true, Naughty Dog could be gearing up for a massive set of successive releases; similar to what we saw with Uncharted 3 and The Last of Us – or even Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy.
That said, in today’s day and age, video games can easily take up to 5 years or more to develop, and so perhaps this mysterious title is still a bit further away just it seems. We will have to wait and see.
