MultiVersus open beta dates officially announced

MultiVersus is an upcoming free-to-play, platform fighter which takes many of WB’s biggest IPs and characters and pits them against one another in a similar vein to Nintendo’s highly successful Super Smash Bros. series. Following a lengthy marketing period and a closed alpha, MultiVersus is finally almost here, with an open beta going live later this month.

Making the announcement via a new trailer, Tony Huynh, the director for MultiVersus, revealed that the game will be getting an open beta on PlayStation, Xbox and PC later this month – more specifically on the 26th of July.

Those who participated in the closed alpha will gain a week’s early access to the beta (starting on the 19th of July). That being said, those unable to gain early access to MultiVerus won’t be missing out on too much, as the open beta does not have a set end date, with the team stating that “MultiVersus will continue to get updated with new characters, maps, seasonal content, and more in the months ahead.”

Finally, it was confirmed that player progression during the open beta will carry on into the final release, meaning that in many ways, this beta serves as a soft launch for the title. Player First Games (the studio behind MultiVersus) seem to be staying true to their name – putting the player’s experience first. Hopefully the lengthy beta period ultimately makes for a fun and balanced game. The FAQ for MultiVersus and its beta can be found HERE.
