Mortal Kombat 1 seemingly getting a PS4 version

Mortal Kombat 1 is now mere days away, and while the game has been pitched and shown off as a current-gen exclusive title, it seems as though NetherRealm have plans to backport the game to last-gen consoles. According to promotional material published by GameStop, Mortal Kombat 1 will at the very least also be coming to PlayStation 4.

As spotted by Twitter user Foulness_Arisen, the promotional boards located within physical GameStop shops advertising the upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 features a banner listing its available platforms as being both PlayStation 5 as well as PS4.

Considering the fact that the game is coming to the Nintendo Switch, there is certainly no reason as to why last-gen systems wouldn't be able to run the game. Even so, if this ends up being the case, the fact that it has never been officially stated that MK1 is coming to PS4/Xbox One is somewhat disingenuous.

While unlikely, it is possible that this is a simple misprint on the part of the game’s marketing department. We will have to wait and see what the team at NetherRealm/WB Games have to say in the days leading up to / following the release of Mortal Kombat 1.
